Vaccination
Owning a pet is a massive responsibility which many people just don't realize and I have seen owners who just bought a pet and left them alone or rope them up with no care no vaccination and literally I hate talking to those guys.
So its very important for anyone who wants a pet or buying one to weigh up all the cost, your lifestyle, and other deciding factors that you should buy a pet or not because many pets are abandoned at shelters as their owners cannot or they will not look after them.
Basically there are Three Vaccinations:
1. Canine Distemper
2. Canine corona virus
3. Rabies
1. Canine Distemper :
Once the puppy reaches 45 days of age Distemper is given it is the most important vaccine. After 45 days the next shot will be given exactly at a gap of one month after these two shots it will continue once every year. Basically what this vaccine does is that it becomes a shield against many diseases of dogs such as:
. Canine Parainfluenza : A virus that is responsible for kennel cough.
. Parvovirus : A virus that can kill a dog in just 72 hours so prompt veterinary attention is crucial. This virus attacks the gastrointestinal system due to which there is a loss of appetite vomiting, fever and often bloody diarrhea.
. Leptospirosis : This virus spreads from animal to human. This virus is found everywhere in soil as well as water when symptoms appear such as fever, vomiting, abdominal pain diarrhea, loss of appetite, weakness muscles pain and even kidney or liver failure. Antibiotics are effective the sooner given the better it is.
. Lyme Disease : This disease is transmitted via ticks and can affect dogs heart, kidney and other joints and in some cases even responsible for neurological disorder if left untreated.
. Canine Hepatitis : Is a contagious viral infection that affects the liver, kidney, spleen, lungs and even eyes of affected dog. Symptoms can be slight fever, vomiting, jaundice and pain around the liver.
2. Canine Corona Virus :
This vaccine shots will be given in the same way as the Canine Distemper (First shot at 45 days of age, the second one will be given after 30 days then repeated every year)
Canine Corona virus has nothing to do with Covid-19 virus. As Covid-19 virus has not yet shown any threat to dogs.
Whereas the Canine Corona Virus usually affects the dogs gastrointestinal system and can also cause Respiratory Infections. There is no drug to kill Corona Virus but what your doctor does is will keep your dog hydrated, warm and helps him to alleviate nausea.
3. Rabies :
The First shots given for Rabies Vaccine is at the age of 3 months the second one is given after 6 months from the first one then regularly once every year.
Rabies is lethal condition caused by a Virus. It can affect all warm blooded mammals, including Humans. It spreads by bite's, through blood and saliva or through mucous membrane's.
In many places Rabies vaccine is legally required otherwise your dog could be quarantined or taken by animal control and the owner can be cited. This virus affects the nervous system and has no treatment and that is the reason Rabies Vaccine is a must. Not only your pet will be safe but also the people around the dog because this virus also effects humans.
DEWORMING :
Deworming plays a major role. Deworming treatment should be carried out as early as 5-6 weeks age and repeated after 15 days to a month depending on the condition of the Pup till 2-3 months age. After that a repeat dose every 3-4 months needed for smooth doing of dog.
SICK ANIMALS AND THOSE WITH SEVERE ECTO AND ENDOPARASITE INFECTIONS SHOULD NOT BE VACCINATED.
